WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Program
First day
Welcome to Cadore
Arrival and check-in at the hotel in the afternoon. The first evening is mainly dedicated to the group: we’ll meet the tour guide and our fellow travelers, have dinner together, and go for a walk around the area. A relaxed start, before lacing up our boots and exploring the Dolomites in winter.
Second day
At the foot of the Romiti Mountains, amid forests and a mountain hut
Today we head into the heart of our winter hike in Cadore. We’ll explore theRomiti Hermitage, on snowshoes or in hiking boots depending on snow conditions, walking through forests and mountains. In the late afternoon, we’ll return to the hotel and get ready for dinner, which we’ll enjoy together.
Third day
New Year's Day Only:
The first day of the year begins at a leisurely pace. The morning is free for resting or taking a walk in the surrounding area. In the afternoon, we head to Cortina d’Ampezzo and head to the Mietres Mountain Hut to enjoy the sunset over the Conca Ampezzana. In the evening, we return for dinner together: a deliberately more relaxed day before lacing up our boots and heading back out onto the trails.
Fourth day
The Five Towers and the Flavors of Cadore
Today we’re heading toward one of the symbols of the Dolomites: the Five Towers. We’ll reach them on a snowshoe hike or a winter trek, letting the day’s conditions guide us to the best route. After lunch at the Scoiattoli Mountain Hut , we’ll head to San Vito di Cadore, where a tasting of local products awaits us.
Fifth day
Malga Maraia, Our Last Hike Together
Before saying goodbye to Cadore, we still have one more destination to reach: Malga Maraia. We set out to explore the winter woods and landscapes, choosing our route based on the conditions. We’ll have lunch on our own at the mountain hut and then head back: our hiking boots go back in our suitcases, along with days of trails, mountain huts, and new friendships.
From the south, take the A27 Venice–Belluno highway to Pian di Vedoia, then the SS51 Alemagna highway toward Cadore. From the north, take the A22 Brenner highway, exit at Bressanone, then continue toward Dobbiaco and Cortina along the SS49 and SS51 to Pieve di Cadore.
The nearest train station is Calalzo di Cadore, just a few kilometers from Pieve. From the station, you can take a Dolomiti Bus; Line 36 connects Calalzo FS with Pieve di Cadore. Schedules and frequencies may vary, so we recommend always checking for the most up-to-date information.
