WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Program
First day
The adventure begins in the afternoon with arrival in Vicchio, a charming village nestled in the green hills of Mugello, a land of artists and centuries-old traditions. After settling into our accommodation, we will have time to relax and soak up the authentic atmosphere of this corner of Tuscany, surrounded by rural landscapes, history, and culture. Before dinner, we will have the opportunity to get to know the group and our guide, share our expectations for the experience, and discover more about the area we will be exploring over the next few days. During traditional Tuscan dinner , we will be able to savor traditional local dishes, such as ribollita and Mugello potato tortelli. A gastronomic experience that will immediately immerse us in the culture and authentic flavors of this land.
Second day
The itinerary of sharp blades
We will depart for Borgo San Lorenzofor a visit to the historic center. We will continue on to San Piero a Sieve to venture into the Mugello countryside and reach the Convento del Bosco ai Frati, a place of spirituality that houses a famous wooden crucifix attributed to Donatello. The route will take us in the footsteps of the Ubaldini family, crossing the Apennine ridge to Galliano and Sant'Agata, where we will admire the splendid Romanesque parish church. We will reach Scarperia, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, famous for its tradition of artisan cutlery, which has earned it the title of "city of sharp blades." We will return to Vicchio, cradle of artists and beating heart of Mugello tradition, for dinner at the hotel.
Third day
The painters' itinerary
Today we will cycle to discover the lands that inspired some of the greatest artists of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, such as Giotto, Cimabue, and Beato Angelico. Our route will begin along secondary country roads, crossing rolling hills and bucolic landscapes until we reach the panoramic road that runs along the slopes of the Apennines. The first stop will be at theancient Mulino Margheri, a 9th-century gem that is still in operation. We will then continue through historic farms and unspoiled rural scenery until we reach the birthplace of Giotto. The itinerary will continue, touching on iconic places such as the Cimabue Bridge in Vespignano, where, according to legend, the young Giotto was discovered by his teacher while drawing on stones, and the evocative Annibale Bridge in Sagginale. We will return to the hotel in the afternoon for farewells.
The reference station is Vicchio. The property is 800 meters from the station.
