In the heart of Tuscan Romagna,in the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines, lies a small village home to precious thermal waters: Bagno di Romagna welcomes us for a weekend of e-biking and spa treatments to recharge our batteries while surrounded by nature. On this 4-day e-bike vacation, we’ll set out to discover a region of magnificent natural beauty, cycling with our local guide along trails immersed in the woods, past isolated chapels, ancient mule tracks, and the magical Casentino Forests—among Italy’s most beautiful natural areas. Together we’ll ride along Italy’s longest forest road, the Cancellino–La Lama, but we’ll certainly have time to relax as well: our spa hotel, with its natural springs and pools, will rejuvenate us after our beautiful excursions, while its restaurant will treat us to authentic Romagna cuisine featuring locally sourced, farm-to-table ingredients. After all, a proper Romagna experience also includes the cuisine: during our final hike on the Sentiero del Lupo, we’ll stop for a genuine Romagna vegetarian lunch, featuring healthy and authentic ingredients!
WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Program
First day
Welcome to Bagno di Romagna
Ready for a rejuvenating weekend of spa treatments and cycling in nature? There’s no better place than Bagno di Romagna, a quaint little village nestled in the heart of the Tuscan-Romagna regionin the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines. We’ll meet around 6:00 PM with our guide for a briefing and dinner; if you manage to arrive early, don’t worry: you can enjoy the warm thermal waters of the hotel’s indoor spring or relax in the hotel’s outdoor pool with a whirlpool: let’s recharge with positive energy for the weekend!
Second day
Cycling in the Casentino Forest Park
Ready, set, go! We’ll set off from our hotel in Bagno di Romagna, pick up our e-bikes, and head toward San Piero in Bagno! From there, we’ll climb toward Monte Piano before descending to Rio Salso: the ride will be challenging but beautiful, taking us through a stunning beech forest. Our gaze wanders among the trees in this fantastic natural setting: we pedal until we reach Ca’ di Veroli, where we’ll have the chance to take a short break and sample some local products. Before we know it, we’ll be deep in the woods of the Casentino Forests Park, continuing toward Passo Carpano, where we’ll have the chance to visit the Monastery of Sant’Eufemia near Pietrapazza. At the end of the tour, there is an option for lunch featuring local specialties near Bagno di Romagna.
Third day
E-bikes in the most authentic wilderness of the Apennines
Today, a new e-bike route in the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines: we ride across the border into Tuscany, reaching the village of Cancellino. From here, we’ll take our e-bikes onto Italy’s longest forest road: the Cancellino-La Lama is a picturesque route carved out of an old railway line, winding through ancient forests and often considered the most beautiful and spectacular in the country. We’ll pedal through this magical landscape, navigating the ups and downs and taking breaks to catch our breath and enjoy the wonders of nature. In La Lama, we’ll have the chance to visit a small ancient church at the bottom of the valley within the park. Once our tour is over, we’ll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch together featuring local specialties. Back in Bagno, why not treat ourselves to some well-deserved relaxation in the hotel’s thermal waters? If we still feel like getting a little exercise, we can explore the simple Sentiero degli Gnomi trail right on the edge of the village.
Fourth day
On the Sentiero del Lupo
Our final e-bike excursion through the Romagna countryside: we’ll climb a bit higher to venture along the Sentiero del Lupo, a loop trail that starts and ends right in Bagno di Romagna. Amidst views of badlands and green ridges, the vista sweeps across the majestic natural landscape of Romagna: we pedal alongside our local guide, following a route that includes Monte Carpano and Monte Piano, passing by a wonderful agritourism farm to enjoy a traditional Romagna lunch in nature featuring locally sourced ingredients. We then return to the hotel to drop off the bikes and head out again: it has been a weekend of e-bikes and spas that was nothing short of rejuvenating. See you next time!
