WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Program
First day
I arrive in the late afternoon at thehotel in Gallio, a town in theAsiago Plateau. We settle in and prepare for the meeting with the guide and the rest of the group. We have a briefing on the next few days and enjoy an excellent traditional dinner with local dishes at the hotel. During this long weekend, we will have the opportunity to discover many things about the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni (Plateau of the Seven Municipalities) and we will set off on a fascinating excursion in the moonlight. We will walk immersed in the silence of nature, where the darkness of the forest will be illuminated only by the moonlight and the tranquility of the mountain landscape. This special moment will allow us to experience the Plateau in a new way, exploring solitary paths and listening to the sounds of nature at night. An excellent introduction to the natural beauty of this area, perfect for those seeking a unique and relaxing experience.
Second day
Tour of the Campomulo Mountain Huts
Today is the first day of trekking on the Asiago Plateau! We are getting ready for a beautiful excursion among the Campomulo mountain huts, with a visit to the Campomulo mountain hut, Moline Alpine Pasture and Malga Fiaretta. Here we will have the opportunity to discover mountain life through local products and stories of times gone by. During the tour, our expert guide will teach us how to recognize the tracks of the animals that inhabit these mountains, which, with a little luck, we may encounter along the trail! We will then have lunch together at the Campomuletto Refuge, where we can enjoy products from local farms, ranches, and distributors. On the way back, we'll treat ourselves to an excellent Venetian aperitif in Gallio in good company before resting at our hotel.
Third day
Walking along the Valley of the Mills
The last excursion of this weekend organized in Veneto takes us to the Valley of the Mills in Gallio, a trail that winds along a stream flowing from one of the very few surface springs on the plateau. Immersed in a cool and lush environment, theexcursion to the Valle dei Mulini is perfect for discovering this area: following the trail that descends from Gallio, you find yourself in a veritable open-air museum, where nature intertwines with the remains of ancient mills and tanneries from the 18th century. We will stop along the way for lunch in a mountain hut with local cheeses and typical products. Our expert guide will take us along a simple and intriguing route, walking among small waterfalls, mosses, and the fascinating evidence of the ancient industriousness of the Seven Municipalities.
Fourth day
Asiago and the evening hike to the Verena Refuge
This morning we take it easy: we have time to visit the historic center of Asiago, discover its culinary specialties, and do a little shopping, strolling through the streets of the center, which are full of bars and small shops.
We get ready for the hike we will take this afternoon: we will climb a little higher, walking for a couple of hours until we reach the Verena Refuge (2000 m). We will then have dinner with a beautiful panoramic view of the entire plateau, enjoying the flavors of the mountains composed of local products. We can also make ourselves comfortable and relax: today we will spend the night in the refuge!
Fifth day
After breakfast, it's already time to head back! For those who want to stay a few more hours, there is still plenty to to visit in the Asiago area. Those who wish can stroll through the picturesque mountain villages, discover ancient farmsteads, or admire the spring colors that paint the surrounding pastures and woods.
In any case, this has been a truly rejuvenating experience, in contact with the lush flora and fauna of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni and with the stories and traditions of the Vicenza mountains. We say goodbye, taking with us indelible memories of a journey through the treasures of theAsiago Plateau.
The nearest train stations are Vicenza, Bassano del Grappa, and Thiene, from which daily buses depart for Asiago (the closest stop to Roana is Canove, and from there you will need to book a paid transfer). After booking, we will provide you with details on how to get to the hotel.
