WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Program
First day
Welcome to your weekend in the mountains of Veneto! We are all located in Recoaro Terme in the late afternoon. This village nestled in the Conca di Smeraldo is home to pure, healthy springs, so much so that it boasts a past as a destination of excellence for the bourgeoisie, attracted by the natural thermal baths. We meet directly at the hotel with the guide, who will present the weekend program over a nice aperitif. This will be followed by dinner and our first easy evening excursion, which will take us to discover the surroundings of Recoaro, venturing into its districts and walking in nature under a starry sky.
Second day
Trekking in Campogrosso
Today we set off full of enthusiasm for our hike in the panoramic basin of Campogrosso, in the heart of the Piccole Dolomiti Vicentine, from where we can admire both the imposing rock faces and the plain below. This excursion is certainly fascinating for both its historical and naturalistic value: it will be an exploratory adventure to immerse ourselves in the geology and history of the Recoaro area.
During this trekking with an expert guide , we will follow one of the ancient access routes to the Campogrosso Pass, used until the early 20th century by smugglers who traveled between the Kingdom of Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. We will take a special lunch break: we will stop at the Campogrosso Refuge for a delicious traditional lunch! After our walk, we deserve a little relaxation, so let's book access to the hotel's spa?
Third day
Day in Contrada
Today we can rest our legs... but certainly not our stomachs! Various activities are planned that represent the most important traditions of this valley. We are getting ready to discover one of the characteristic districts of Recoaro, small settlements scattered throughout the Conca di Smeraldo, which in many cases preserve ancient buildings and customs. We climb towards Contrada Rossati di Valdagno, where we will be introduced to the world of bees and local honey. This will be followed by a traditional cooking workshop, where we will prepare our own lunch according to ancient Venetian recipes: bigoli or polenta, depending on the season, will be our delicious creations.
After lunch, we will take a refreshing break and then proceed with a visit to the apiary: our journey into the world of bees continues with a workshop with beeswax.
How can we end our day without a good glass of wine? We will enjoy our wine tasting at a local winery with our guide.
After a day full of activities and discovering the area, we return to our hotel for dinner.
Fourth day
Along the Path of the Great Trees
Today is the last day: we set off on a beautiful hike along the Path of the Great Trees, an evocative route through the most beautiful woods and clearings in the area. Nestled in the heart of the enchanting Venetian Pre-Alps, this trail winds along the panoramic Montagnole Plateau and is a real hidden gem, passing through ancient woods and offering spectacular views. We will only cover a short section of the trail, but along the way we will see majestic centuries-old trees, whose imposing crowns seem to hold distant stories. We will get up close and personal with these great plant patriarchs, walking among beech woods and elegant fir trees, surrounded by a rich variety of plants and flowers that paint the landscape with unique shades. Once the excursion is over, it's time to head back: those who wish to can stop for lunch at one of the many mountain huts in the area. See you soon!
I recommend arriving by car because (short) trips will be made using participants' cars. The starting points for excursions are about 10-20 minutes from the hotel, and the roads are always passable, even in snowy conditions. Please note that if you decide to use public transportation, you will share the transportation costs with those who make their cars available. From the A4 Milan-Venice motorway, exit at Alte-Montecchio and continue towards Recoaro. From the A31 Valdastico motorway, exit at Thiene and follow signs for Schio/Recoaro. From Vicenza, Recoaro can be reached via Montecchio and then up the Agno Valley, which starts in Trissino. Please note! I recommend setting your satnav to Recoaro Terme only and not the full address of the Hotel Trettenero, as many satnavs will take you on a longer route unnecessarily. Train: the most convenient and closest train station to Recoaro is Vicenza. From Vicenza station, take the bus; the bus station is next to the train station. Tickets can be purchased from the ticket machine or at the ticket office inside the station. If you are unable to purchase your ticket in advance, you can also buy it on board for an additional fee.
