WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Program
First day
arrival on theisland of Rhodes and transfer to the hotel for some relaxation by the pool and time to get to know each other before dinner. Tomorrow we start walking!
Second day
At the foot of the Acropolis of Lindos
Let's start from above Vlicha Bay for a fascinating circular hike, where we will admire the famous bay of Lindos from a privileged vantage point, accompanied by the scent of thyme and oregano and the view of the sea along the entire route. The view opens up onto Bay of Navarone, famous for the film "The Guns of Navarone," and theAcropolis that dominates the white village of Lindos. We cross the village and continue towards the tomb of Kleovulos (ancient governor of Lindos in the 6th century BC), then return to the village for a lunch based on the typical Greek pita gyros. After lunch, there will be time for a swim in the sea, shopping, or visiting the Acropolis.
Third day
Between green oases and wild horizons
We set off for the village of Archangelos. From here, an easy path through olive groves leads us to the Seven Springs, a place famous for its dam built by the Italians in the 1930s and its 187-meter-long tunnel. The entire area makes up Epta Piges a small refreshing oasis in the heart of the island. Return to the hotel for lunch.
N.B. in September , we will not visit the Seven Springs, which will be replaced by Prasonissi (because there is no water at the springs from July onwards and the visit is not worthwhile without water!).
The walk takes us to discover the southern tip of theisland of Rhodes, one of the most fascinating and iconic places on the island. This is where Prassonissi, famous for the extraordinary meeting point between the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, separated by a picturesque strip of sand that connects the island of Rhodes to a small islet. From here, the route continues to discover Prassonissi, between the old lighthouse, spectacular views, and wild and unspoiled bays, often deserted and immersed in an authentic and natural atmosphere.
Fourth day
From the woods to the blue Aegean Sea
The trek begins near the village of Monolithos and follows a pleasant path through the woods to a cave hidden in the mountain called Limeri. We then pass by the small church of Ag. Ioannis, on the top of the island's second mountain, Mount Akramitis: the entire area is included in the European Natura 2000 habitat network and protected as a natural monument. Here, green meets the blue of the Aegean Sea. After stopping for lunch in a typical taverna, we continue by bus to the ruins of Monolithos Castle Monolithos, built on a 236-meter-high monolith (hence the name).
Fifth day
On the trail of Rhodes' history
This cultural day begins with a first stop at the Kallithea Springs, where our Italian-speaking guide will take us on a tour of this place built during the Italian era. The guided tour of the city of Rhodes begins at the Amboise Gate, passing by the Palace of the Grand Master, the England Inn and the Archaeological Museum. We will have some free time to visit other archaeological sites, shop or have a snack. Lunch on your own.
Sixth day
The east coast, at its wildest
Today we have one of the most beautiful treks in Rhodes, along the east coast between wild beaches and views of the Aegean Sea. We start from Agathi Bay, the famous Golden Sand , about 20 minutes by bus from the hotel. From here, the sometimes rough trail takes us to the cliffs overlooking the sea and, after a must-see stop at the red beach, we arrive at Stegna, a picturesque fishing village, where we will stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we will reach the Tsambika beach Tsambika: relax by the sea or climb up to the Tsambika monastery. The view encompasses the beautiful, long beaches of Kolymbia, Afandou, Tsamika, and Stegna: you will feel like you are "one step away from heaven"! The descent is along the same steep path to the beach.
