WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Program
First day
One of the most exciting in the Veneto region: the Pasubio’s 52 Tunnels Trail is much more than just a hike. And the added value comes from walking alongside an expert guide. Built in 1917 as a military route during World War I, today it is a hiking trail unique in Europe, among the most spectacular in the entire Pre-Alpine range. Along its 6 km—2 of which are entirely carved into the rock—you’ll find 52 tunnels and breathtaking views of the Val Leogra and the Vicentine Pre-Alps, and the thrill of literally walking through history. We reach Bocchetta Campiglia (1,219 m) via a comfortable minibus transfer, and the actual hike begins from here. We gain elevation on the slopes of Bella Laita, cross the picturesque Val Camossara, and look out over the “Vai” area, narrow gorges beloved by mountaineers. After skirting the Val Fontana d’Oro Pass, a final thrilling stretch carved into the rock leads us to the Porte del Pasubio and the Papa Mountain Hut, nestled in a lunar landscape steeped in history.
In the afternoon, the return journey will follow the Strada degli Scarubbi, gentler but no less charming, which takes us back to Bocchetta Campiglia. Here, a well-deserved break, perhaps with a traditional snack, a refreshing beer, and some shopping at the mountain hut. Transfer to the lodge by minibus and free evening. This unforgettable day of trekking on Pasubio, perfect for those who love the mountains, history, and nature.
N.B. Those wishing to arrive the evening before may request an additional overnight stay in Schio.
In the evening, you’ll have the opportunity to meet the guide for a brief briefing and slide show, featuring a historical overview of the city of Schio and Pasubio.
Second day
After breakfast, today we're going to explore Schio, the historic “the “Manchester of Italy”,” on a cultural walk through the industrial archaeology of the Venetian Pre-Alps. This town, one of the most dynamic and visionary of the 19th century, was the center of exceptional industrial development thanks to the ideas of the great entrepreneur Alessandro Rossi, who transformed Schio into a European model in the wool industry with Lanerossi.
During the morning, we will visit the main symbols of this glorious past: the romantic Jacquard Garden, the monumental Fabbrica Alta, and the evocative Conte Wool Mill area , and the New Workers’ Quarter, an enlightened example of social housing. We’ll also admire the iconic Omo, a statue symbolizing the working-class identity, and the Civic Theater, the cultural heart of the city.
A true journey through memory, architecture, and industry: ideal for those seeking a different kind of cultural vacation, discovering a lesser-known but surprising side of Veneto. We’ll say goodbye before lunch—see you next time!
