WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Program
First day
Independent arrival in Santander or Bilbao and organized transfer to the first accommodation located in Ormas - Campoo.
Second day
From Campoo to Polientes
We pass through the green mountain pastures of the Cantabrian Mountainsto the banks of the Ebro River, passing by the Monastery of Montesclaros to the Valderredible Valley and Polientes.
Third
From Polientes to the Zamanzas Valley
A distinctive feature of this area of Cantabria, on the border with Castile and León is that many churches are carved into the rock itself, a curious sight not to be missed. The valley begins to close in until we find ourselves in a sort of canyon and reach the fairytale village of Orbaneja del Castillo, in Burgos. Continue our bike tour of northern Spain and we reach Valle de Zamanzas, finally arriving in Castile and León!
Fourth day
From Valle de Zamanzas to Medina de Pomar
This cycling holiday takes us to discover the town of Puentedey and its amazing natural rock bridge over the Nela River. We arrive in Medina de Pomar with its ancient Jewish quarter and the castle that dominates the town.
Fifth day
From Medina de Pomar to Frías
From Medina, we continue our individual bike tour along a quiet country road that runs parallel to the river. We reach the town of Frías, whose historic center preserves the structure andatmosphere.
Sixth day
From Frías to Haro
Once again, the landscape changes, the valley closes in, creating a small canyon, and we reach the town of Miranda del Ebro and then the wine village of Haro. Opportunity to drink a glass of Rioja in its birthplace, perhaps with some typical tapas!
Seventh day
Haro to Laguardia
We pass through endless vineyards with the mountains of the Sierra de Cantabria in the background. We reach the superb medieval fortified village of Laguardia, where wine is almost a way of life. Let's toast to this fantastic cycling or e-bike vacation in northern Spain.
Eighth day
We have reached the end of this exciting self-guided tour of Spain that has taken us through the regions of Cantabria, Castile and León, La Rioja, and the Basque Country. We have plenty to share upon our return. The return transfer from Laguardia to Santander or Bilbao is scheduled for around 9 a.m.
The best option is either to go to Santander and return to Bilbao, or to go to Bilbao and return (transfer options to be verified at the time of booking).
