First day
Welcome to Trier / Treviri, the oldest city in Germany and the starting point of this cycling holiday along the Moselle Valley. Delivery of travel documents and bikes or e-bikes (if rented) ready to accompany you on a six-day itinerary through vineyards, castles, and historic villages.
To get you off to the best start, enjoy a welcome toast with a tasting of local wines in a Trier wine bar: a taste of the world of wine & delight that will accompany you throughout your trip. Starting tomorrow, scenic bike paths and stops among the Riesling vineyards, towns overlooking the river and the authentic pleasure of a bike tour in the Moselle, surrounded by nature, flavor, and history.
Second day
Your bike trip along the Moselle begins gently, following the course of the river through hills dotted with vineyards and small villages immersed in tranquility. The Moselle cycle path is flat and scenic, allowing you to fully enjoy the landscape without rushing. Along the way, you will encounter Schweich, with its ancient ferry tower and numerous Roman remains dotted around the area. Cycling along the winding bends of the river, you will reach Trittenheim, surrounded by vineyards, and Neumagen-Dhron, considered the oldest wine-growing village in Germany. Here, every stone tells the story of wine: a place where past and taste intertwine in a unique way. The scent of the vineyards, the colors of the hills, and the slow pace of cycling make this a perfect day. Overnight stay in Wintrich or the surrounding area.

The day begins amid the golden reflections of the Moselle and hills adorned with perfect rows of vines: one of the most scenic stretches of the entire bike tour along the Moselle. The ride is peaceful and pleasant, winding along the river's bends and through vineyard-covered landscapes that look like paintings. You will soon reach Bernkastel-Kues, one of the most iconic villages in the valley, with its half-timbered houses, flower-filled squares, and the majestic Landshut Castle dominating the town from above. Here you can also visit the Moselle Wine Museum, dedicated to the wine-growing tradition that makes this region famous throughout the world. Continuing on, the cycle path gently follows the course of the river to Traben-Trarbach, an elegant spa town that was once the heart of the German wine trade, and then on to Reil, a small village surrounded by vineyards and silence.

Cycling along quiet cycle paths and country roads, you will reach Bullay, with the remains of its Roman settlements, and Bremm, famous for its spectacular sloping vineyard and the ruins of the Stuben monastery, framed by a landscape that looks like something out of a painting. Continuing south, the river narrows into a picturesque bend and Beilstein, one of the most beautiful villages in the valley, also known as the Rothenburg on the Moselle due to its old-world charm. Half-timbered houses, cobbled streets, and the Metternich Castle create a fairytale atmosphere that invites you to stop for a stroll or a glass of local wine. A little further on, the road leads to Cochem, considered the true heart of the Moselle: a jewel of medieval architecture with a perfectly restored historic center, full of shops and cozy bars. Dominating the landscape is the imposing Reichsburg, built around the year 1000 and symbol of the valley. The last few kilometers to Treis-Karden run through vineyards and peaceful riverside scenery.

The last stage of your bike trip along the Moselle is a crescendo of beauty, history, and breathtaking views. Shortly after setting off, it is worth taking a detour to visit the famous Eltz Castle, a true medieval gem nestled among the hills: towers, bridges, and courtyards that seem to have come straight out of a knightly tale. Once you resume your ride, the route continues past ancient fortresses that hold centuries of history: Bischofstein Castle, the romantic Hatzenport Castle, and the majestic Thurant Fortress, which dominates the valley from above. The last few kilometers are peaceful, passing through the characteristic wine-growing villages of Kobern-Gondorf and Güls, where the scent of Riesling accompanies your arrival in Koblenz, the point where the Moselle meets the Rhine at the famous Deutsches Eck.

After breakfast, individual departure for return home or option of extra nights in Koblenzto enjoy the magic of the Moselle a little longer. This day marks the end of a journey that has combined wine & delight, culture, and picture-postcard landscapes. From the ancient Roman ruins of Trier, the starting point of the journey, to the medieval villages of Bernkastel-Kues, Beilstein, and Cochem, each stage has revealed a different face of the valley: sometimes elegant and historic, sometimes natural and peaceful. An itinerary designed for those who love to travel slowly, savoring every kilometer and every glass of wine, immersed in a landscape that offers authentic emotions at every glance. The Moselle by bike is not just a tour: it is an experience that will remain in your memory, combining nature, taste, and beauty.
Parking is available in Trier for around €12 per day. It can be reserved but must be paid for on site. For the return journey from Koblenz, it is possible to book a train ticket for an additional fee.
From Luxembourg Airport (LUX): the most convenient options are a taxi or a private transfer, which takes about 30 minutes. For those looking for a more economical option, bus 302 is also available, connecting the airport to Trier in about 45 minutes at a cost of 2 euros per person, but only on weekdays, from 4:15 PM to 8:15 PM. From Frankfurt Airport, Trier can be reached by bus, train, or private transfer. The direct Flixbus connects the airport to the city in about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Alternatively, train connections are available from the airport, usually requiring a transfer, or taxis and private transfers for a direct ride to the hotel.
