First day
Welcome to Lake Constance
Welcome to your cycling tour along the Lake Constance Cycle Route! Upon arrival in St. Margrethen/Lustenau, you’ll check into your hotel and receive all the necessary information materials, as well as your bike or e-bike, if you’ve rented one. The day is yours to enjoy: you can relax after your journey or take a stroll in the surrounding area, discovering the charm of the border between Austria and Switzerland, with enchanting views overlooking Lake Constance. It’s the perfect opportunity to start immersing yourself in the atmosphere of this cycling adventure! Over the next few days, your bike tour will take you through three countries, exploring iconic sites such asMainau Island, famous for its flowers, and the medieval village of Meersburg. You’ll ride through vineyards and historic towns and visit unique attractions like the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen! Are you ready?
Second day
Cycling through nature reserves and lakeside towns
We cycle along the Swiss shore of Lake Constance, passing through the stunningAltenrhein Estuary Nature Reserve, a perfect haven for nature lovers and birdwatchers. We reach the lively lakeside town of Rorschach with its picturesque harbor and continue on to Arbon, an ancient Roman town with a beautiful lakeside promenade. Skirting the shores of Lake Constance, passing through Romanshorn and Güttingen, amidst idyllic landscapes, vineyards, and quiet villages, we finally arrive inConstance/Kreuzlingen. Here concludes another exciting stage of our cycling trip around Lake Constance.
Third day
Cycling Among the Islands of Lake Constance
We cross the border between Switzerland and Germany by bike to visit two of the lake’smost charming islands. Our first stop takes usto the island of Reichenau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its vegetable gardens, vineyards, and ancient Benedictine abbey. We can then continue onto Mainau Island, a floral paradise featuring tropical greenhouses, floral sculptures, and the spectacular Butterfly House. Motorized vehicles are prohibited here, making the visit even more special. We return to Konstanz/Kreuzlingen for dinner on your own and overnight stay.
Fourth day
Cycling along the German shore of Lake Constance
Today we hop on our bikesand cycle along the shores of Lake Constance to the Wallhausen pier, where we’ll take the ferry across the lake to Überlingen. From there, our bike tour takes us to Uhldingen, famous for its UNESCO World Heritage-listed Lake Dwelling Museum, which tells the story of prehistoric life on the lake. We then continue to Meersburg, a charming town dominated by the New Castle and the Old Castle, the oldest inhabited castle in Germany. We pass through vineyards and lakeside villages to Immenstaad and finally reach Friedrichshafen, the birthplace of the famous Zeppelin airship. Don’t miss the Zeppelin Museum! In Friedrichshafen, everything evokes these imposing airships, which continue to fly over the city center, offering a unique experience to the most adventurous visitors.
Fifth day
Final BikeRide Through Bavaria and Austria
The final leg of our cycling tour around Lake Constance! Today we’ll cycle along the lake, passing through some of the most charming spots on both the German and Austrian shores. From Friedrichshafen, we’ll head to Langenargen, with its elegant castle overlooking the water, and then continue on to Wasserburg, a charming village nestled between land and lake. Shortly after, we reach Lindau, the famous Bavarian island town, with its romantic harbor and lighthouse overlooking the Alps. The journey continues to Bregenz, famous for its Festival on the Water. Finally, we return to St. Margrethen/Lustenau, bringing our active cycling vacation on Lake Constance to a wonderful close!
Sixth day
Farewell to LakeConstance
After breakfast at the hotel, it’s time to say goodbye to Lake Constance. Before heading back to Italy, you can take the opportunity to visit Bregenz or the surrounding area to extend the enjoyment of this trip a little longer. With its natural beauty, culture, and unique views, this cycling vacation will remain in your memories forever. Goodbye, Lake Constance—see you on the next adventure!
