First day
Here are the Little Dolomites!
Meeting point in Recoaro Terme around 3:30 p.m. with the group and the guide to begin exploring the town famous for its mineral waters and its districts! We’ll walk through the streets of Valdagno to discover its history and unique features: the town is made up of more than 100 districts, scattered throughout the vast area of the Conca di Smeraldo. We’ll be welcomed in one of these districts at a house museum, where the locals will prepare a tasting of wine and local productsbefore heading to the hotel for dinner.
Second day
Hike to the Campogrosso Mountain Hut
First morning in the snow-covered mountains! Today we’re heading to Campogrosso Pass, in the heart of the Little Dolomites. This area, just a stone’s throw from the the border with Trentino-Alto Adige, is perfect for a wonderful hike to discover the unique character of the Little Dolomites. These mountains preserve traces of times past as well as spectacular mountain flora and fauna: the resemblance to the Dolomites—their larger counterparts—is evident, yet they offer a different kind of tranquility, as they are less crowded. So let’s follow the scenic trail that will take us to the Campogrosso mountain hut, where we’ll savor traditional Venetian cuisine, such as gnocchi with fioretta cheese and sopressa. After a lovely traditional lunch at the refuge , it’s time to head back to Recoaro Terme.
Third day
Hike on the Great Trees Trail
Today we’ll go on our last half-day hike in the Venetian Pre-Alps : an easy hike (if there’s snow, a lovely group snowshoe hike) along the picturesque Trail of the Great Trees. We’ll hike a section of this splendid trail where the woods are home to a wide variety of trees, and as we walk with our guide, we’ll encounter these ancient giants—subjects of myths and legends that have watched over travelers and hikers for centuries. We’ll let ourselves be enchanted by the stories of these trees, which have witnessed the seasons come and go time and time again, and then continue our snowshoe hike/trek. Those who wish can treat themselves to a little relaxation at the hotel’s spa!
Fourth day
Through the woods below the Catena delle Tre Croci
We’re getting ready for a wonderful guided hike in the Little Dolomites as we head toward the Gazza Valley. Here we begin our journey, venturing into the splendid woods at the foot of the dizzying peaks of the Tre Croci Range. If there’s been enough snow, we’ll be able to hike with snowshoes on the snow, enjoying the scents and silence of the mountains in winter. Lunch on your own at the mountain hut, followed by a moment to relax and warm up after our lovely hike—how about a bombardino for everyone? We’ll then head back to the hotel in the afternoon. Time to return to the hotel to recharge a bit, and then… off to the New Year’s Eve dinner and the festivities!
Fifth day
The first day of the year is meant for rest and reflection on the future. And what better place than Recoaro and its stunning mountains? On the first day of the year—but the last day of our wonderful ski vacation in Veneto, we were able to enjoy some peace and quiet in an area blessed with stunning natural beauty and a rich historical heritage. We had the chance to go on a group hike with a local guide and go on a few snowshoeing in the Little Dolomites, following some of the most beautiful trails this area has to offer. Sun, snow, nature, and celebrations: the perfect recipe for a perfect New Year’s vacation ! See you next time!

The starting points for excursions are about 10-20 minutes from the hotel, and the roads are always passable, even in snowy conditions. Please note that if you decide to use public transportation, you will share the transportation costs with those who make their cars available. From the A4 Milan-Venice motorway, exit at Alte-Montecchio and continue towards Recoaro. From the A31 Valdastico motorway, exit at Thiene and follow signs for Schio/Recoaro. From Vicenza, Recoaro can be reached via Montecchio and then up the Agno Valley, which starts in Trissino. Please note! I recommend setting your satnav to Recoaro Terme only and not the full address of the Hotel Trettenero, as many satnavs will take you on a longer route unnecessarily. Train: the most convenient and closest train station to Recoaro is Vicenza. From Vicenza station, take the bus; the bus station is next to the train station. Tickets can be purchased from the ticket machine or at the ticket office inside the station. If you are unable to purchase your ticket in advance, you can also buy it on board for an additional fee. Bus: from Vicenza, SVT (Società Vicentina Trasporti) offers direct connections to Recoaro. For more information, call the SVT switchboard on 0444 223111. The Hotel Trettenero is located right in the center of Recoaro Terme.
