Itinerant bike tour between Italy and Slovenia through the Isonzo Valley for a group vacation with guide and luggage transport included

For the 2026 summer holidays, let’s explore the Isonzo River Bike Path together—a spectacular route that runs from Italy to Slovenia and is every bit as good as the famous “Passau-Vienna” route! We’ve been cycling this route for years, and every year we fall more and more in love with it: turquoise waters, rock-carved gorges, waterfalls, and alpine landscapes accompany every stage, always on safe roads surrounded by nature. The journey starts from Gorizia and Nova Gorica and takes us along the wonderful Soca Valley, one of the most beautiful places in Slovenia, passing through Caporetto, Bovec, and Kranjska Gora, all the way to the grand finale on the shores of Lake Bled.
A cycling vacation designed for those using e-bikes (e-MTBs and e-trekking bikes), whether your own or rented locally through us, to experience the region worry-free: a cycling guide, dinners, and luggage transport are included—all you have to do is enjoy the trip.

WHERE ARE WE GOING?

Program

First day

We’ll meet in the afternoon in Gorizia. After a brief introductory session, the tour guide will present the cycling tour itinerary. This will be followed by bike distribution and a bike check, so we’ll be ready for the start the next day. This cycling tour will take us along the Isonzo Valley, one of the most beautiful cycling routes in Europe. From Gorizia, we’ll cycle to Nova Gorica and then on to Tolmin, Kanal, Kobarid, and Bovec. We’ll cross the Vršič Pass, Slovenia’s highest mountain pass, before descending toward Kranjska Gora and concluding our journey at Lake Bled. The evening will wrap up with a dinner included!

Second day

Gorizia - Kanal - Tolmin
Gorizia and Nova Gorica, two cities that symbolize a borderless Europe, mark the start of our cycling journey through past and present, between Habsburg grandeur and Slovenian vibrancy. Our bike tour in Gorizia will allow us to discover the soul of these two cities as we pass through squares, streets, and picturesque corners, including that border line—now a bike and pedestrian path—which recalls the recent past. We then begin cycling upstream along the Isonzo River on a beautiful stretch of bike path that runs just a few meters from the river’s edge, reaching Kanal with its medieval layout, where we’ll stop for lunch. We’ll then take the train for a short ride to Most na Soci, where a relaxing canoe trip on the river awaits us—a stretch that’s as calm as a lake. If you’re feeling up to it, you can even take a dip in the water! Once the canoeing is over, we’ll hop back on our bikes and ride a short distance to the hotel.

Route info: 33 km, elevation gain 430 m

Third day

Tolmin - Kobarid - Bovec
We leave Tolmin after visiting its spectacular gorges, one of the most beautiful natural sites in Triglav National Park, with a hike of about an hour and a half. We get back on our bikes and head toward Kobarid, where you’ll have the chance to visit the National Museum of the Great War or take a stroll to the suspension bridge over the clear waters of the river. We continue cycling, accompanied by the myriad colors of the Isonzo River, toward Bovec, a small Alpine village in the upper Isonzo Valley.

Route info: 42 km, elevation gain 740 m

Fourth day

Bovec – a day to recharge your batteries
A free day to enjoy at your own pace. Those looking for adventure can choose between rafting, kayaking, or canyoning—activities that can be booked directly with a local guide a few days before departure. For those who prefer something more peaceful, the tour leader will guide a pleasant hike to the Šunik Water Grove, a protected area within the Triglav National Park, featuring waterfalls, crystal-clear water, and spots brimming with energy. Lunch on your own at a traditional local restaurant, a dip in the river, and return in the afternoon, followed by a free evening.

Route info: 35 km, elevation gain 500 m

Fifth day

Bovec - Vrsic Pass - Kranjska Gora
Today we face the most challenging stage of the tour, but also one of the most exciting. We’ll follow the Isonzo River upstream through the picturesque Val Trenta, where the water has carved out spectacular gorges. Along the way, we’ll take a break on the riverbank to relax and enjoy the surroundings. We’ll have a packed lunch without lingering, because a major challenge lies ahead: the climb to Vrsic Pass (or Moistrocca Pass), the highest pass in Slovenia. The view here is extraordinary, and the sense of accomplishment is immense. After the descent, we’ll reach Kranjska Gora: congratulations to everyone on this incredible day!

Route info: 52 km, elevation gain 1450 m

Sixth day

Kranjska Gora - Bled
The final leg of our group cycling tour in Slovenia takes us from Kranjska Gora to Lake Bled, one of the most iconic destinations in the Julian Alps—a truly special grand finale. The afternoon is free, and everyone can enjoy the lake however they like: relaxing in the green areas, cycling around the lake (about 6 km), visiting the castle, or taking a ride on a traditional boat. In the evening, we’ll all gather for dinner at the hotel and a toast to wrap up this wonderful adventure.

Route info: 37 km, elevation gain 350 m

Seventh day

After breakfast, it’s time to say our goodbyes. Today marks the end of this exciting e-bike tour from Gorizia to Bled, a journey designed to help you discover the most authentic side of Slovenia. Every detail has been carefully planned to ensure a worry-free ride: luggage transport included, an expert cycling guide, and dinners provided. After traversing extraordinary landscapes, from the Italian-Slovenian border to Lake Bled, you’ll return home with many memories, new friendships, and a strong desire to set off again. To return to Gorizia, we’ll take the train, which allows us to load the bikes and bring the trip’s eco-friendly footprint to a perfect close.

Itinerary information
A total of approximately 211 kilometers and 3,790 meters of elevation gain over 5 days. As designed, this tour can only be completed on an e-MTB or e-trekking bike—whether your own or rented on-site: the bikes available on-site have batteries ranging from 500 to 630 Wh.
Important
As with any active trip, the itinerary is subject to change—including the order of activities or stops—depending on weather conditions, road conditions, and any temporary closures or restrictions at sites, locations, or areas to be visited, as well as the tour leader’s judgment, who will always act in the best interests of the group and the safety of the participants. The activity will take place even in case of bad weather, except in the event of weather alerts or conditions that could compromise safety; we therefore recommend bringing gear suitable for possible rain and temperature changes. It may be necessary to arrange transportation for participants and their bikes between Caporetto and Bovec, at a cost of approximately €15–20 per person.
Train

Arrival in Gorizia by car (hotel parking is available for guests staying at the hotel, but free parking is also available in the surrounding area). For the return journey, there is a train from Bled to Gorizia.
