Program
First day
We arrive in Villach in the afternoon, a lively tourist resort in Carinthia, and check into our hotel. Villach is easily accessible by train from Udine. For those arriving by car, we recommend leaving it in Udine and traveling to Villach by train on the first day. Meeting with the guide and dinner together: a perfect opportunity to get to know your fellow travelers and kick off this group vacation "border" holiday. This bike tour will take us on a journey of discovery along the famous Alpe-Adria Cycle Route, with stops in Austria, Italy, and Slovenia. luggage transport included is very convenient, and we will find our luggage waiting for us at the hotels in Tarvisio and Udine.
Second day
Villach and Lake Ossiach
The journey begins in Villach: less than 30 kilometers from the Italian border, there is an Austrian town famous for its mountains, its historic center, and the beautiful swimming lakes located nearby. This is where our journey along the Alpe-Adria cycle path, a route surrounded by greenery that winds through lush forests and gentle ups and downs. Riding our bikes or e-bikes and accompanied by an expert guide, we will follow the route that runs alongside Lake Ossiacher See, the third largest lake in Carinthia, for a colorful start to your vacation with stunning views. In the evening, enjoy dinner in Villach with recommendations from our tour guide.
Third day
From Villach to Tarvisio
After a hearty breakfast, we leave Villach to conquer the famous cycle path that connects Mozart's city, Salzburg, to the Adriatic Sea and the city of Grado, passing through the Alps, of course. TheToday's cycling route follows the course of the Drava River to the Italian border. A few kilometers from Tarvisio, we stop in the town of Camporosso, where the cable car to Monte Lussari takes tourists to admire one of the most beautiful panoramic viewpoints in the Julian Alps. We reach 1,790 meters above sea level and arrive at Monte Santo Lussari and the Sanctuary: in this place, the traditions, culture, and languages of Austria, Italy, and Slovenia come together. After a well-deserved rest, we resume the cycle path towards Tarvisio, relax at the hotel, and have dinner.
Fourth day
Between Slovenia and the Fusine Lakes
Today will take us across another border, this time into Slovenia! We will discover Tarvisio and its natural beauty, with a short trek to visit theSlizza Gorge. After freshening up, we will resume the Alpe Adria cycle path towards Kranjska Gora, in the heart of the Slovenian Julian Alps . This resort, famous for its ski slopes and international sporting events, offers summer views that are perfect for a group outdoor vacation. In the afternoon, visit the Fusine lakes: this is where the No Border Festival takes place during the summer! Relax for a while and then off we go, cycling to Tarvisio to return to the hotel and enjoy an excellent dinner.
Fifth day
From Tarvisio to Udine
Continuing our cycling holiday , we follow the route of theancient Pontebba railway , passing through picturesque tunnels and former stations that have been converted into rest stops and service points for cyclists. A stop at the Chiusaforte Station, the symbol of this cycle path. The itinerary alternates between scenic cycle paths and a few kilometers on paved roads, offering a varied and enjoyable ride. A guided tour of Venzone and the medieval village with its fascinating double stone walls. The day ends in Udine, a city rich in charm and traditions, where art, culture, and gastronomy come together in a unique setting.
Sixth day
Cividale del Friuli, history and flavors
We are almost at the end of this cycling holiday and we conclude with an important stop: Cividale del Friuli, a true gem of Friuli Venezia Giulia and UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic city, cradle of Lombard civilization, immerses us in a unique atmosphere, made up of millennial traditions and architectural beauty. Located in the heart of the Natisone Valleys, Cividale offers us picturesque views and excellent cuisine. During the visit, we will have the opportunity to taste local Friulian specialties such as Gubana, a rich and fragrant dessert, and Struki, delicious filled rolls that are one of the region's most beloved delicacies. In the afternoon, we return to Udine.
Seventh day
This unforgettable group cycling or e-bike holiday, an experience that has given us breathtaking landscapes, history, and unique traditions. A guided itinerant trip designed for those who love to cycle without a care in the world: each stage has been carefully organized, from the support of the guide to the convenience of luggage transfer included, allowing us to enjoy every kilometer with ease and pure enthusiasm. The return journey will be comfortable from Udine, whose station is well connected to Venice Santa Lucia. The nearest train station is Villach HBF (Hauptbahnhof/city), which is about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. For the return journey, take the train from Udine.
For those arriving by car, we recommend leaving it in Udine and traveling to Villach by train on the first day.
