WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Program
First day
Let’s set sail! Heading for Elba
We’ll meet you in Salivoli in the morning. We’ll settle into our cabins, go grocery shopping together, and, once back on the sailboat, set course forElba Island, where we’ll take our first swim of the vacation halfway to Palmaiola Island and have time for some snorkeling. We’ll continue this first sail with a skipper and arrive in Portoferraio. During this week on the sailboat, we’ll visit the beaches north of Elba Island and head to Capraia Island for a relaxing vacation filled with swimming and easy sailing—perfect even for first-time sailors or those traveling alone.
Second day
Northern Elba: White Rocks
We wake up in Portoferraio and admire its beauty and its small harbor before setting off to explore some of Elba’s most beautiful beaches: we’re spoiled for choice between Capo Bianco, Scoglietto di Portoferraio, Capo D’Enfola, and many other coves with crystal-clear waters.
Third day
Toward Capraia, in the Sea of Cetaceans
Our sailing vacation in Tuscany continues with a morning swim right after waking up, when the sea is still calm and the only sound is the raucous squawking of seagulls vying for breakfast. We make our way tothe island of Capraia, taking turns at the helm and helping the skipper with the maneuvers. Let’s not forget that we’re sailing to explorethe Tuscan Archipelago, in the cetacean zone, where dolphins and bottlenose dolphins are usually easy to spot.
Fourth day
Wild Capraia and an Evening in Marciana
The northern part of Capraia awaits us as we continue our week-long sailing trip with a skipper. The island is dotted with coves, from Porto Vecchio and Cala della Mortola to Cala del Reciso and the nearby "Seno della Perruccia." For the evening, we’ll return to Elba, perhaps to Marciana Marina, for a traditional Tuscan dinner and an evening ashore amidst the colors and liveliness of this charming town.
Fifth day
Toward the Most Spectacular Side of Elba
Our boat, the Jonas , takes us to the west coast, where the cliffs are high and breathtaking, the sea is deep and blue, and dolphins and other marine mammals are often spotted. We go snorkeling off Pomonte Beach, getting a close-up view of the Elviscot wreck, a coal ship that sank in 1972 during a storm. Tonight, we’ll toast under the stars near Fetovaia or at Galenzana Beach near Marina di Capo.
Sixth day
A Farewell to the Liveliest Part of Elba
The last day of this sailing vacation between Elba and Capraia begins at Istia Beach, and in the afternoon we head to Porto Azzurro, the most touristy and lively town on the Island of Elba. Walking through the narrow alleys and streets of the historic center, you immediately sense the atmosphere of an ancient and significant past, as evidenced by the historic fortification of Forte San Giacomo.
Seventh day
Disembarkation
We treat ourselves to one last breakfast in the cockpit with the sea as our backdrop, breathing in a sense of freedom that’s hard to describe to anyone who’s never experienced a sailing vacation. Weather permitting, we’ll take one last swim in the coves accessible only by boat, and then relax at the bow to enjoy a short sail toward the Tuscan coast, where we’ll disembark in the morning. We say goodbye to the skipper who made us fall in love withthe Tuscan Archipelago and hug the new friends we’ve made during this experience. It’s time to head home.
