YOUR RATING

last year's survey score

A weekend for beginners and experts in sailing to fully experience the Spartan beauty of one of the most famous regattas in the world: the Barcolana in Trieste.

Would you like to participate in the Trieste regatta but have never raced before? Come to Barcolana 2026, a true celebration of the sea open to everyone, which you can participate in even if you are a beginner. A sailboat is, in fact, the best place from which to see the Barcolana from the sea and it's an experience you can enjoy even if you've never been on board a boat before.
The world's most popular regatta is held on the second Sunday in October, but if you want to enjoy it to the fullest, go for a weekend trip with a group and a skipper.
You'll be spoiled for choice when it comes to what to do at Barcolana because the whole city of Trieste will be filled with events, shows, music, and stands where you can taste many typical Friulian products. Embark on a Jonas sailboat: you'll experience the festive atmosphere and you can meet up with friends you made during your last summer sailing vacation or participate in a sailing weekend for the first time! You are welcome regardless of your level of experience.

WHERE ARE WE GOING?

Program

Friday

the Barcolana weekend in a group begins with boarding in Trieste, Monfalcone, or neighboring ports around 6 p.m. We stow our luggage, meet the other participants, and organize dinner. Depending on our preferences and the skipper's advice, we book a restaurant in the area or go grocery shopping and cook something on board.
With Jonas, you can
book a single place, bring a travel companion with you, or occupy theentire sailboat with your group of friends. In any case, you will find the crew who will take care of steering the boat and participating in Sunday's regatta.

Saturday

If we moor outside Trieste, we can leave the mooring and try our hand at a test sail to test our sailing skills and, for the more adventurous, our resistance to the waters of Trieste with a dip at the end of the season! In the afternoon, we can reach the center of Trieste to soak up the atmosphere of the Barcolana with the events organized in the city and perhaps a fish dinner in one of the typical restaurants. If, on the other hand, our boat is moored in the central area, we can spend the day discovering Trieste and the Barcolana Village. Selfies in Piazza dell'Unità? After dinner, it's off to bed, as tomorrow an incredible regatta awaits us!

Sunday

The sailboat is the best place to watch the Barcolana , and the great thing is that you can take part in the race even if you are a beginner who has never been on a boat before.
For sailors: today is finally the day of the
Trieste regatta, which is a unique race: the placing is not important, the important thing is to be there. Let's get into position with our skippered sailboat on the race course and have fun! Disembark in the afternoon, at the end of the competition.
For spectators: let's watch the
Barcolana from the sea , positioning ourselves with the boat at the edge of the regatta course, an unparalleled experience!

Tour guide
The skipper is the captain of the boat and an expert on the itinerary. For safety reasons, his decisions regarding navigation are final. Together with the guests, he organizes and collaborates in cooking and cleaning the common areas. The Barcolana weekend is open to everyone, even beginners, because it is a true celebration of the sea and may also include the participation of trusted crew members. These individuals are often tasked with assisting the skipper in maneuvering and managing activities on board. The number of people present may therefore exceed the number of those who have stayed overnight, but will still be appropriate for the boat's capacity. This can also happen in the presence of pre-established groups or with many experts on board.
Itinerary information
The sailing schedule may be subject to change in the event of adverse weather conditions.
Important
Everyone can participate in Barcolana, even beginners. If you choose to experience it aboard a sailboat, be prepared to adapt a little more than you would on a traditional sailing tour. You will be participating in a real regatta, so you may be accommodated on smaller, sportier boats than we usually use, with more basic accommodations (sleeping in a cabin or dinette).
Train

The address will be provided 4 days before departure, once we have organized the boat groups.
