WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Program
First day
We’ll meet atthe 3-star hotel in downtown Trieste and meet our tour guide along with the rest of the group. We’ll have dinner at a restaurant and take our first walking tour through the heart of the Julian capital.
During this weekend, we won’t have to wonder what to do in Trieste over three days: we’ll feast our eyes on the wonders as we stroll through the downtown streets and along the Strada Napoleonica, stop at Trieste’s most famous historic cafés, and follow in the footsteps of Saba, Joyce, and Svevo, who were all great lovers of this city.
Miramare Castle will be the real highlight of this weekend, offering us an afternoon of wonder overlooking the sea.
Second day
A very pleasant start to this second day in Trieste! We’ll begin the day with a guided tour of Trieste, retracing the footsteps of famous writers such as Svevo, Saba, Joyce, and Andric. A must-visit stop at some of Trieste’s most famous historic cafés, where artists and writers once exchanged ideas and visions, all while enjoying delicious local treats. Then we’ll choose a nice restaurant for lunch or grab a quick sandwich and eat by the sea: it’s truly worth it! In the afternoon, we’ll take public transportation to Miramare Castle to discover the beauty of this building and its spectacular botanical garden overlooking the sea.
Dinner is on your own tonight: we can choose a nice little restaurant serving typical Karst dishes.
Third day
The final morning of our group weekend takes us to the Trieste Karst region to walk along the Napoleonic Road, a route much loved by the people of Trieste in every season of the year, which owes its name to its inauguration by Napoleon’s troops. Just a few minutes from the city center, you can enjoy an easy walk through the countryside with wonderful views of the Gulf of Trieste. We return to the city for lunch, and it’s time to say goodbye. We look forward to seeing you in Friuli next summer!
