First day
On the road to Maratea
Departure from Rome in the morning with a comfortable transfer, sharing the road trip to Southern Italy. Our destination is Maratea, known as the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea, located in the heart of the picturesque Gulf of Policastro. We will arrive in the afternoon and settle into the B&B that will be our base for the next few days. After dropping off our luggage, we will literally dive into the beauty of the Gulf of Policastro, where the crystal clear water and tranquility of the beaches will be our first taste. The day will end with dinner at a restaurant, where we can begin to discover the authentic flavors of Lucanian cuisine, made with simple and genuine ingredients.
Second day
Between sky and sea: Monte San Biagio
Our first guided trek will take us to one of the wonders of Maratea: the Statue of Christ the Redeemer, which, at 21 meters high, dominates Monte San Biagio and is visible from all the towns overlooking the Gulf of Policastro. We will climb to the top along scenic trails surrounded by Mediterranean scrub, until we reach the viewpoint behind Christ, which offers a breathtaking view of the entire coast. After lunch, we take a short, digestive walk to the Bay of Fiumicello, perfect for cooling off with a refreshing swim in its turquoise waters. A day that combines nature, culture, and relaxation, allowing us to fully embrace the spirit of this vacation.
Third day
In the wild heart of Cilento
Today we immerse ourselves in the heart of the Cilento National Park, a true natural gem of Southern Italy. Our guided trek takes us to the picturesque Bussento River Valley, where lush forests, shady trails, and enchanting views will accompany us as we discover the spectacular Morigerati Caves, a true wonder of nature. Here, the source of the Bussento offers a unique spectacle, with crystal clear water and the echo of an unspoiled environment, perfect for those who love trekking and nature. After this adventure immersed in natural beauty, we move on to the splendid coast of Maratea. Among turquoise waters and well-kept beaches, we relax on one of its shores: a perfect mix of sea, sun, and relaxation.
Fourth day
Trekking to Secca di Castrocucco
Let's dive into the beauty of the sea! With a short trek of about an hour, we reach the enchanting cove of Secca di Castrocucco, one of the most fascinating beaches on the Maratea coast, located at the foot of the ancient village of Castrocucco and surrounded by wild, unspoiled nature. With its crystal-clear waters and intense colors, this place is a true paradise for those who love the sea and tranquility! Castrocucco, with its ancient castle perched on a hilltop, adds a touch of history to this corner of paradise, making it the perfect destination for relaxing and discovering the magic of the coast. We end the day waiting for the sunset and return to Maratea before dinner.
Fifth day
Adrenaline in Pollino, relaxation in San Nicola Arcella
Recharge your batteries with a refreshing rafting trip on the Lao River, in the heart of the Pollino National Park. This lush river flows through an enchanted gorge. Rafting, which is also suitable for beginners, is an adventure accessible to everyone and a unique experience to enjoy nature in an active and fun way. For those looking for an alternative, canyoning on the Bussento River offers an equally thrilling experience. In the afternoon, we move on to one of the most iconic wonders of the coast: theArco Magno in San Nicola Arcella. We reach this spectacular cove via a short path that winds through steep rocks and wild landscape. Once there, we are greeted by a beach of fine sand and crystal-clear sea that invites us to take a refreshing dip, the perfect way to end this memorable day.
Sixth day
Trekking in Acquafredda and relaxation by the sea
Today, our trek takes us to the beautiful hamlet of Acquafredda, a picturesque corner of the Maratea coast. The route winds through lush Mediterranean scrub, offering breathtaking views and intense scents of myrtle, juniper, and rosemary. The trek ends at the seaside, where the crystal-clear blue water invites us to relax. In the afternoon, there is no shortage of things to do: you can choose to explore the spectacular sea caves of Maratea aboard a kayak, accompanied by two expert guides who will reveal the secrets of this hidden paradise, or relax on the beach, basking in the sun and listening to the sound of the waves. Another perfect day to enjoy the wonders that this land has to offer!
Seventh day
It's time to say goodbye, but not before taking one last dip in one of the most beautiful coves we discovered during this wonderful vacation in Maratea and its surroundings. The road trip to Rome will give us the chance to talk about all the things we have seen and experienced: the magic of the sunsets over the Gulf of Policastro, the fun of rafting in the heart of the Pollino and the serenity of the golden beaches. Every day brought a different emotion: from trekking to the sea, from sporting adventures to moments of relaxation. Now it's time to go home, but with our hearts full of memories and the promise of a new adventure together. See you on our next vacation!
All you need to do is arrive at Roma Tiburtina station on Saturday morning, where your guide will be waiting to accompany you on your road trip. We will provide details of the meeting point once you have registered. Transfer from Maratea to Rome will also be provided at the end of the holiday. Local travel will also be by minibus with driver. Fuel and motorway tolls will be paid for from a shared fund contributed to by all participants.
Maratea is located along the railway line to Sicily and not far from the Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway. Rome-Reggio Calabria-Sicily line. You can arrive by train directly at Maratea station from Rome or Naples and other major cities. The Frecciarossa Turin-Milan-Rome-Reggio Calabria also stops at Maratea.
