WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Program
First day
Toward the Blue Waters of the Tuscan Archipelago
We’ll meet you in the morning in Salivoli to kick off this exciting week of sailing with a skipper. Once everyone is on board, if the wind is favorable, we’ll head toward Palmaiola Island or Cavo Beach for our first swim, then sail on to Porto Azzurro. Over the next few days, we’ll continue exploring the southernpart of Elba and head toGiglio Island to relax on its wild beaches. Sailing through the natural beauty of the Tuscan Archipelago is one of the most enjoyable ways to experience an eco-friendly vacation in Tuscany, enjoy the sea, and reach beaches accessible only by boat.
Second day
The Most Hidden Side of Elba
Breakfast in the cockpit this week offers us a view of Porto Azzurro and the fortress of Forte San Giacomo. These are the kinds of breakfasts we love! In the morning, we head toward the lesser-known beaches of Elba, one of Italy’s most sought-after destinations—and exploring it by sailboat allows us to avoid the crowds even in August. Let’s dive off the Jonas into the crystal-clear waters of Remaiolo Beach or Sassi Neri Beach. The incredible color contrasts of this place will leave you speechless. The Gulf of Capoliveri and Golfo Stella await us for an overnight stay at anchor—another incredible outdoor experience on this tour of the Tuscan Archipelago.
Third day
Sailing to Giglio
One of the must-do activities on a sailboat? An early morning dip followed by breakfast in the cockpit! In the morning, we’ll set sailfor Giglio Island, a true gem of the Tuscan Archipelago. We can spend the 4–5 hours of sailing learning how to trim the sails and taking turns at the helm. We’ll head down to the stunning Spiaggia delle Cannelle, perfect for swimming and snorkeling in its turquoise waters, or stop at Giglio Campese, further north. We’ll wrap up the day with a traditional Tuscan dinner at a beachfront restaurant or by staying on board for another night at anchor.
Fourth day
The Wildest Side of Giglio
Our sailing vacation in Tuscany continues as we explore Isola del Giglio in greater depth, taking in the Scole rock formations and Spiaggia delle Caldane—a secluded corner of paradise nestled among the vegetation, where we can stop for a swim and some relaxation in its crystal-clear waters. Slowing down and returning to the rhythms of nature is a priceless experience! In the evening, if the weather holds, we can stay at anchor: Isola del Giglio has very few lights on land, treating us to an incredible starry sky. Alternatively, we can go ashore for dinner at a traditional Tuscan restaurant.
Fifth day
The Slow Pleasures of Elba
We’ve learned that the best part of sleeping at anchor is diving into the water as soon as you wake up, when the sea is still and silence still surrounds you. We head to the famous beaches of Lacona and Laconella, known for their light-colored sandy bottoms and crystal-clear water. We read a book, soak up the sun, and treat ourselves to some relaxation; or, if the wind is right, we can head to the famous Pomonte shipwreck to go snorkeling. For the evening, how about dinner at a restaurant or a stroll through the streets of Marina di Campo?
Sixth day
The South Coast of Elba
The south coast of Elba Island is a succession of wonderful beaches, each one unique. We continue our week on a skippered sailboat toward the expansive Gulf of Lacona and Lido di Capoliveri, where we spend the day swimming and relaxing to our heart’s content between the Spiaggia dell’Innamorata and Pareti beaches. We’ve reached our last night together: we can stay here to enjoy a magical starry night or head to Porto Azzurro for dinner at a restaurant, surrounded by the lively atmosphere of the village.
Seventh day
: Disembarkation
Our week sailing between the beaches of Elba and Giglio is coming to an end. We savor the moment of one last swim before breakfast and coffee with our new friends, and we disembark by noon in Salivoli. We’ll take home with us the knowledge that we’ve hada unique outdoor experience among the southern islands of Tuscany, along with the desire to start planning our next sailing trip—perhaps a weekend on a boat in September or October with the same skipper and the same group of friends.
